One of the roles of the Swiss Hotel Heritage Foundation is to act as an intermediary between companies that have preserved their archives and made them available for research, and students or future hoteliers who are studying the historical foundations of the artisanal and industrial production of Swiss hotel products.
Leinenweberei Schwob AG in Burgdorf, a manufacturer of hotel linen since 1872, possesses valuable archive material, which it has made available to the Swiss Hotel Heritage Foundation – or rather its predecessor organisation, the Swiss Hotel Archive Foundation – for an exhibition at the École hôtelière de Lausanne. The exhibition was entrusted to a professional interior designer from the Vevey School of Design. Thanks to the numerous objects on display, a bygone world of textile history was brought to life, with modern technology making this centuries-old tradition a tangible experience.
