Swiss Hotel Heritage Competence Centre
This is where the website of the Foundation for Hotel Heritage Switzerland is being created. Hotel Heritage Switzerland is a centre of competence that emerges from the merger of the activities of the Foundation for Hotel Heritage Switzerland (formerly the Swiss Hotel Archives Foundation) and the association Friends of Swiss Historic Hotels. The aim is to establish a national contact point for Switzerland's historic hotel heritage, with a focus on historic hotels and their architectural culture. We support stakeholders from the fields of research, the hotel industry, monument preservation, tourism and the public sector in their engagement with Switzerland's hotel heritage and are committed to its protection, preservation and high-quality development.
The catalogue of services is being gradually finalised and is currently being developed in collaboration with the Institute for Tourism and Mobility at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The project is supported by funding from Innotour (SECO).
Our services:
The Swiss Hotel Heritage Competence Centre will develop and offer the following services in particular:
- Consulting and technical guidance
Support for owners, hotel operators, foundations, municipalities and public authorities on issues relating to the preservation, maintenance and further development of historic hotels. - Archiving, cataloguing and promotion
Preservation, cataloguing and promotion of hotel archives and historical collections relating to the Swiss hotel industry. - Financing and promotion
Financial support for selected projects for the preservation of historic hotel buildings, particularly in the areas of restoration and maintenance. - Protection and awareness raising
Promotion of protective mechanisms, awareness raising and expert argumentation against speculative misdevelopments in the handling of historic hotels in Switzerland. - Support for research and teaching
Provision of information, sources, archival materials, expertise and contacts to support research, teaching and theses. - Mediation, communication and network maintenance
Preparation of knowledge for specialist audiences and the general public, as well as the establishment and maintenance of a national network on Swiss hotel heritage.
